There are always things to learn, change, do better and we don’t always have the answers to current global concerns, but we are always ensuring that our choices, the way we conduct our business and the products available are all sourced, manufactured and traded in the most ethical, responsible, and sustainable way. We are passionate about the journey in which our packaged products arrive in your care, how long they live with you and how they are disposed of. Our bottles and pumps can be used, refilled, and loved for a long time and with mindful consumption, using less and wasting less, we can all enjoy a brighter and cleaner future.
OUR AIM
Our aim is to take everyday items and turn them into a more sustainable choice with a longer life without compromising on quality, we want you to have your same daily routine but with a different approach. We started our journey offering a luxurious refillable system for hotel guest amenities, trying to eliminate miniature bottles that truly pile up in our oceans and landfills. As well as hotels, we are now venturing into more and more homes, offices, gyms, restaurants, bars, theatres, yachts, cruise ships, and airlines, where soon single-use plastic will be the thing of the past. Our entire company is based upon a refillable system, helping businesses and households reduce their plastic consumption and waste. We know that just skimming along, complying with the minimum requirements is not what the world needs, our aim is to continuously improve our standards, finding ways to change the way we do things, and how our customers use and dispose of things. Our team are regularly thinking outside the box, and challenging ourselves to do things better.
COMPANY OPERATIONS
Where possible we operate and promote a paperless system, all of our staff commuting is kept to a minimum, our office and warehouse team recycle all materials used, are respectful to the environment and are always seeking alternatives in how to make a difference and reduce our footprint.
PACKAGING & PRODUCTION
We always source our suppliers and partners carefully and with their own sustainable practices at the forefront of our choices. Our outer boxes are made from 100% recycled cardboard and are reused wherever possible. Our void-fill packaging is 100% recycled kraft paper, but we also re-use clean packaging of any type received with deliveries wherever possible. Gift Boxes are made in England from recycled cardboard and can easily be stylishly repurposed.
Our refill bottles and containers are made from recycled/recyclable HDPE bottles code 2 and all of our plastic 300ml bottles are 30% recycled PET. All our plastics are fully recyclable.
Our stainless steel holders are made in England with metal sourced from Europe only. Our products are made in England and in Canada, and wherever possible we source all materials and packaging as close to our distribution homes as possible. We are currently evaluating our glass bottles, our very own sleek design that will be compatible with our holders and pumps, and glass of course offering an even longer-life alternative.
We are working towards replacing our refill bottles with larger pouches for liquids saving a further 85% in plastic packaging. However, pouches in today’s market are not recyclable. Unless they are incinerated they sadly end up in landfill. There are a lot of companies using these pouches that indicate they are recyclable, which can be misleading to the customer. We are endeavoring to locate a fully recyclable pouch for cosmetic liquids to add to our collection.
OUR KIND, CRUELTY-FREE AND 100% VEGAN FORMULAS
Products are made from ethically sourced supplies and are paraben, SLS, SLES free. Our formulas have never been tested on animals and never will be. We are proud that our products are 100% vegan.
BOTTLE REPLACEMENT PROGRAM
The majority of miniature plastic amenity bottles used in a hotel room ends up in landfill where they sit for years and years. The top 300 hotel groups in the world alone dispose of an estimated 5.5 million amenity bottles and caps every year. One 100-bedroom hotel switching to a Refillable Collection for their bathroom amenities will reduce the astronomical number of miniatures bottles going into landfill, also saving time, costs, and energy.
We introduced a Hotel Bottle Replacement Program which helps our customers switch from miniatures to a refillable system. They recycle their bottles annually within a contractual agreement and in many cases the leftover product goes to good use by being sent to local homeless charities. Once 300ml bottles are in situ, customers only need purchase our bulk refill HDPE plastic containers which helps in promoting our ethos in keeping it green. Each annual anniversary our customers are reminded to change the dispenser bottles and recycle their plastics. Typically, our refillable system will save our hotel customers more than 60% in costs over using miniature amenity products.
GIVING BACK
In Canada, we currently partner with Soap for Hope through our unique hotel Bottle Replacement Program. Soap for Hope started in 2016, striving to eliminate as much waste from landfill as possible whilst providing an essential hygiene service to shelters, transition homes, foodbanks, elementary schools, and remote Indigenous Communities. Our aim is to implement a similar program in the UK during 2024. We are currently in discussions with hotels and charitable organizations to implement this as soon as possible.
October and November 2021 we donated 25% of our Calm online sales to Breast Cancer Now and Rethink Breast Cancer. We will continue to do this going forward and introduce donations to other organizations and research foundations both in the UK, Canada and globally.
